Attorney-General George Brandis and Head of ASIO, David Irvine

Australia bugged the East Timor government during crucial negotiations over the $40 billion gas resources in the Timor Sea so East Timor has now annulled the Timor Sea Treaty on the basis that Australia engaged in insider trading. Lawyer Bernard Collaery is representing East Timor in its case against Australia in the Hague but his home was raided by ASIO spies today who removed files and computer data. An ex-ASIS spy whistleblower who is a witness in this case has been arrested. We call for the resignation of Attorney-General George Brandis and Head of ASIO, David Irvine.

Signed,

Gareth Smith

Australia has been caught engaging in criminal behaviour against East Timor, one of the poorest countries in the world. The gas revenue is critical for East Timor's development but Australia has used its spy agencies to secure an unfair advantage in the Treaty negotiations. It has stooped even lower today by blatantly stealing legal files from lawyer Bernard Collaery and arresting a key witness. Signing this petition will embarrass the Australian government and hopefully lead to the resignations of the two main perpetrators of this infamy.
