Sign the Petition to

USDA Department of Agriculture

We demand that the USDA Department of Agriculture investigate and the Horn T Zoo and urge you to revoke their license.

We also demand that the USDA revise it's standards for zoos so that the animals kept there have all their needs met well above what is now considered minimal standards.

Signed,

Stop All Cruelty to Animals

Roadside zoos run the gamut from small menageries where animals are kept in barren cages constructed of concrete and metal bars to larger compounds that are surrounded by chain-link fencing. They are usually privately owned and not accredited by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums. The focus is on amusing customers rather than meeting the animals' needs.[1]

Outside of the small village of Monroe, Nebraska is the Horn T Zoo. The zoo houses around 35 exotic species, including yak, wildebeests, zebra, an alligator, a coatimundi, and a spider monkey, to just name a few. All of these animals are kept on in or near 72 feet by 100 feet barn on the 40-acre ranch.[2]

The animals are kept in cages instead of realistic native habitats for each species. What's more, on June 29, 2013, one of the animals, a yak, escaped and was hit by a car.

Animals, like these kept in this Roadside Zoo, deserve better. They deserve freedom, respect, and more than to be just kept in a cage while spectators stare at them.
