The purpose of this page is to help raise money for the Kedem Battalion of Israel's Combat Search and Rescue Unit, part of the Home front Command.
A little about these soliders
: The Search and Rescue Brigade was created in 2009
, making it a relatively new unit in the IDF. A regular day in Kedem consists of guarding, patrols and other missions on Israel's borders and in various Arab settlements, much like any other infantry unit. However, in addition to these duties, when there is a national emergency, IDF's Search and Rescue Unit are one of the first at the scene. The unit is essential in keeping Israeli citizens safe and coming to their aid when they are in danger. This unit has also provided aid and Search and Rescue services around the globe, including Haiti after the 2010 Earthquakes and are currently in the Philippines (Typhoon Haiyan).
Due to lack of funding, there are certain necessities that our soldiers are not provided by the army. The essential items include cold weather gear such as warm hats
, gloves, thermal shirts
and fleece jackets
. There is also a shortage of water backpacks
(i.e. camelbaks) for many soldiers in the unit. The weather is starting to change and it is important to keep our soldiers warm and comfortable as they watch over us.
Yashar La Chayal's mission is to aid soldiers by providing them with what we consider essential equipment that the army is not able to. It is important to note that, unlike other organizations, every cent of money donated will go to the soldiers.
For 15 years now, Yashar La Chayal has fundraised donations and purchased gear units throughout the IDF. Now, it's time to give the Combat Search and Rescue Unit a lending hand.
The amount of money raised determines which items are purchased
Below are the approximate totals:
270 Fleece jackets = ₪18,900 ($4,725)
270 Thermal shirts = ₪10,800 ($2,700)
270 Winter caps = ₪4,050 ($1,012.5)
270 Gloves = ₪5,400 ($1,350)
100 Camelbacks = ₪8,000 ($2,000)
Yashar Lachayal works in dollars. Anyone in Israel can send a check to:
In Israel -
Maale Adumim, Israel
(Be sure to mention Marcella Goldring, or Kedem on the check, so that it will be donated to our cause)
NOTE: All the money donated does not go straight to the army. It goes to Yashar LAchayal's bank account. According to the wants and needs of the soldiers, Yashar Lachayal will buy the necessary items and deliver the items to the unit. Again, every cent goes to the soldiers.
