We, the undersigned, request that DEFRA do not allow the production of horse meat for consumption in the UK

Princess Anne claims that if the British public consumed horse meat, that horse owners would take better care of their horses. This is not the case. The majority of horse owners in the UK provide excellent care and welfare for their beloved pets and have absolutely no intention of consuming horses. Horses are traditionally kept as pets in the UK , for providing companionship and/or entertainment in the form of riding. People hold a high regard for them as sentient beings. Considering them fit for consumption can only be detrimental to their welfare.

Signed,

Christy Roberts
