Bangladesh is a land of natural beauty in which there are stretches of Sundarban, the world’s largest mangrove forest. It protects our dear land from the coastal disasters and is only the source of livelihood of many of its inhabitants. It also saves the lives of thousands of people each year from various natural disasters. It acts like a mother to the locals. This dear mother is now in great menace due to the Rampal coal power plant project. Obviously Bangladesh needs more power plants to keep up with the demand for electricity, but why does this has to be established through killing the mother, the safeguard Sundarban forest? We, the youth once voted her to be one of the wonders of the world. It has been declared a World Heritage site. Now we raise our voices against the wrong decision of the current government to risk its existence and sincerely hope that the government will reconsider the issue and withdraw their decision regarding the establishment of Rampal coal power plant project near Sundarban.
