Sign the Petition to

Merced Chief of Police, Norm Andrade; Merced Mayor, Stan Thurston.

We demand that you immediately end the Merced Police Department's policy of officers taking injured animals out to the police shooting range to kill them. This is an inhumane and brutal practice. We are asking you to adopt the more common practice of deferring responsibility to animal control when faced with injured animals.

Animals are often loved members of our families and therefore our communities. Please represent the best in our community by respecting all living things and immediately changing this policy

Signed,

Nick Magel

By changing the Policy of the Merced Police Department taking injured animals out to the shooting range to shoot them we can guarantee that critically injured animals are not euthanized unnecessarily. By always involving the experts of animal control we can make sure that injured animals receive the treatment they need and if the unfortunately circumstances arise where they cannot survive their injures we can guarantee they are humanely put down. Not taken to the shooting range for target practice. Oakland and Sacramento have changed their policies and it is forbidden to kill animals in the field. Now it's Merced's turn.
