In 2006-07, the SFCTA conducted neighborhood studies and meetings and created a Columbus Ave Neighborhood Transportation Study.
The final study was submitted in January 2010 and gave three alternatives for improving Columbus Avenue. SFDPW is planning on repaving Columbus during the summer of 2014, and I believe that one of the alternatives listed in the SFCTA study should be examined further and implemented as part of the repaving.
Columbus is a vibrant corridor at the heart of North Beach and supplies the city with a bustling cafe culture. However, the sidewalks are narrow and the pedestrian volumes high which often causes what should be a pleasant experience to be less than that.
Let's improve the overall experience of Columbus!
Let us call on Board of Supervisor President and District 3 supervisor, David Chiu, and both the SFMTA and SFCTA Boards to implement one of the alternatives from this study in conjunction with the repaving.
