HUGGIES is a family name brand, manufactured by the Kimberly-Clark corporation, and used by millions of North Americans on a daily basis. Your commercials boast of 'natural' and 'healthy' ingredients, but that's not whole story.
On behalf of outraged parents everywhere I implore you to research alternate venues of holistic preservatives instead of DMDM Hydantoin - a chemical that can release or be contaminated with carcinogen formaldehyde.
As a mother, I can not fathom why I would choose this brand of wipes knowing that they pose a range of serious health risks to my child.
In the past, your company has made changes to eradicate equally if not harsher chemicals. The question I pose now is: why stop there? Why not continue to reform your product until it is 100% completely safe and non-toxic?
I urge you to recall all your "trusted" baby products that you market to consumers as "natural care" for their little loved ones and make the necessary changes to merchandize your products as truly natural.
Carcinogenic formaldehyde is a colorless, flammable, strong-smelling chemical that is used in building materials and to produce many household products. No parent would knowingly want to expose their child to this dangerous chemical, but that's exactly what they're doing when they use some HUGGIES products, manufactured by The Kimberly-Clark corporation.
That's why we're petitioning the Chairman and CEO of Kimberly-Clark to remove the chemical that releases carcinogenic formaldehyde (DMDM Hydantoin) from HUGGIES "Natural Care" wipes.
The epidermis or outer layer of a baby's skin is 20-30% thinner and therefore less resilient than adult skin. Infant skin both absorbs and loses moisture more quickly then adult skin, therefore absorbing toxins released directly through your product on a daily basis for the first few formative years of life isn't only unnecessary it's extremely unhealthy!
Exposure to formaldehyde can cause joint pain, chronic fatigue, headaches, depression, ear infections, allergies, chest pains, loss of sleep, and dizziness. It may also exacerbate coughs, which could trigger asthma. Appallingly, more serious side effects include weakening of the immune system and cancer.
If parents were properly educated to know about all the toxins that they are putting onto babies precious skin and the harm that it could cause them there would be a public outcry!
Lets do the math, 2 years equals 730 days, which adds up to a staggering 7,300 wipes. That's 7,300 times that parents could have picked a better product to use that has no chemicals!
