Ban Gay Conversion Therapy in New York State
We are adamant in expressing our support for State Sens. Brad Hoylman (D-Manhattan), Michael Gianaris (D-Queens) and Assemblywoman Deborah Glick’s bill to ban gay conversion therapy in New York State.
Gay Conversion Therapy is among the worst frauds in history and has been discredited by the American Psychological Association and other leading mental health organizations.
We urge you to take expedited action to facilitate the passage of this bill as soon as possible.

The New York state legislature is considering a bill that will protect minors from the harmful, discredited practice of gay conversion therapy, which subjects teens to psychologically damaging "treatment" by so-called psychology counselors who falsely claim they can "fix" the sexual orientation of children who identify as being LGBT.
How can a state that recognizes equal marriage not recognize a child's right to grow up as themselves, gay or straight?
This same bill failed to get enough votes to pass in 2013 but with your help we will get it passed this year.

Based on this body of evidence, every major medical and mental health organization in the United States has issued a statement condemning the use of reparative therapy. Click here to read more on the HRC website.
Psychiatrist Dr. L. Spitzer, who once offered a study on reparative therapy, has since denounced the practice and has apologized for endorsing the practice. See the interview here.
Similar legislation has been enacted in California and now in New Jersey.
Please sign this petition and show New York's leaders that they should support a ban on gay conversion therapy too.
