Dear Friends and Project Supporters,
These days, people spend thousands of dollars trying to re-create
the feel of a rainforest sun shower in their bathrooms. Ironically, the
people who actually live in the rainforest have a somewhat simpler
request: they'd like a toilet.
While some people are disappointed if their bathrooms lack granite
countertops, jetted tubs and heated towel racks, families of Yomybato in
the Peruvian rainforest would be happy to have running water.
Rainforest Flow has successfully brought clean water to the village of
Yomybato. Now we have a new goal: to build sustainable, sanitary
bathrooms at the village school and individual homes. By giving the
school children and families the luxury of a toilet and a sink, and
teaching them how to use and maintain them, we're giving the greatest
gift of all: dignity.
The next time you turn on the faucet to brush your teeth, or wake up
in the middle of the night to use the bathroom, try to imagine what it
would be like to live without it. Think about how amazing it would seem
to someone who's never had it before. Then do something really
incredible, and help give it to them.
