We are petitioning the World Society for the Protection of Animals (WSPA) to immediately take action to stop the brutal slaughter of over 100 large sea turtles and dugongs per week in village of Losuia on Kiriwina Island in Papua New Guinea. These beautiful sea creatures are bashed over the head by rocks or hit using a wrench under their necks in an attempt to kill them, and then carved up whilst often still alive and moving.

Signed,

Tim Larner

This petition helps by raising global awareness of a slaughter that only started 3 months ago, but has already killed up 1300 sea turtles and dugongs (sea cows), many of which have been tagged by Australian and New Zealand researchers. The village of Losuia in PNG is being promoted as a future tourist site, however the government has done nothing to stop these killings beyond saying it is illegal. By putting PNG and the village of Losuia on the map for allowing this horrific slaughter to take place, this petition aims to use the global power of the WSPA to make change happen.
