As some of you know, my
older brother, Charlie was diagnosed with leukemia as a child and I thank God
every day that he is a survivor. Charlie attended Oncology Camp at Camp Okizu
and was surrounded by other kids who were just like him. He was able to be a
kid, have fun and not worry about being made fun of or having people ask him
why he didn't have any hair. After Charlie came home with friendship bracelets
and singing camp songs, I could not wait to go to this place called Okizu.
I attended a SIBS (Special & Important Brothers & Sisters) Camp for the
first time at the age of 6 and have only missed one year ever since. Camp Okizu
shares a very special place in my heart. Once I turned 18 I became a staff
member and started to pay it forward. Okizu helps hundreds of families every
year and does not charge them a penny. I am trying to raise $1,000.00 to
send one child to camp for a week this summer.
