We call on you to stop using $1.3 billion of US taxpayers money to aid the military in Egypt.
The ouster of Mohammed Morsi puts the U.S. in a clear position: By law, the administration is required to cut off aid to a country after a military coup, and while you continue to reject using the term coup, it is now clear that the events in Egypt were in fact a military coup (funded by US taxpayers money). The US government's support of this brutal military crackdown must end immediately.
The America I know stands for democracy and every day we support Egypt with $1.3 billion in military aid is another day we are complicit in the weakening of democracy; it's another day you use my dollars to fund this brutal regime. Please remember what America stands for, remember who we stand with, and cut military aid to Egypt immediately.
People are being slaughtered and there are curious reversions to the Mubarak era. This needs to end.
The U.S. is in a unique position whereby cutting off aid can be used to leverage the Egyptian army to set a clear timetable to restore democratic rule and to stop its crackdown on the Muslim Brotherhood.
Congress has that power.

Our tax payer funds make us all complicit in the brutal military coup taking place in Egypt. 100's if not 1000's have already been killed in the streets. The US government must hault all military aid to Egypt to send a clear message we stand for democracy not violent military rule. We're calling on Congress to pressure the military into moving forward, and returning power to the people.
