On April 19, 2011 the very first CDH parade ever was held in Raleigh, North Carolina.  By April 19, 2012 the day grew to be celebrated around the world and 17 governors issued proclamations for CDH Awareness. 

In 2013, the U.S. Senate and the U.S. House of Representatives both introduced Resolutions to make April Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia Awareness  Month.  The Senate Resolution was passed unanimously.On April 19th, 2013 parades were held around the country, over $30,000 was raised for CDH Research, buildings were lit in several cities and over 10,000 people raised Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia Awareness around the world.


Our goals for 2014 are:

  • Congress to proclaim April 19th the International Day of CDH Awareness
  • 40 States to proclaim April 19th the International Day of CDH Awareness. Click here for a sample letter to send your Governor and Mayor
  • 75 Cities to proclaim April 19th the International Day of CDH Awareness 
  • Parades of Cherubs in 25 cities on April 19th
  • Involve 10 hospitals in the Parade of Cherubs
  • Light Up The Night or other event in 10 countries on April 19th
  • Virtual Parade of Cherubs 
  • Light up 3 more national monuments on April 19th
  • Have at least 50 CDH families hold events or fundraisers on April 19th
