These puppies were dumped in a sack in the woods in Vatra Dornei, Romania. You see there is no vet in Vatra Dornei who can do spay/neuter......so this type of abandonment is common. Roxana Pasat is pleading with us to return to Vatra Dornei to help once again....and we are pleading with you our donors for help. Here is what Roxana just wrote to me:
" unfortunately, we are daily confronting with a serious issue in Vatra Dornei: there is no trained vet who would spay / neuter the strays, those poor dogs living on the streets, there are no certified vet clinics for these routine procedures and no qualified vets! In Vatra Dornei there are only vet pharmacies, therefore in case we have a medical emergency we have to drive as fast as possible to a nearby town, 50 - 100 km away, where dogs can be properly assessed, treated and / or operated! And this is only because we care enough to spend our money and to try the impossible to save their lives! otherwise these dogs are doomed. In Vatra Dornei there is no spay / neuter program, no trained vets, no certified vets to be involved in such programs! Vatra Dornei is a town located in the mountains where, generally speaking, people castrate only bulls, pigs, donkeys...but not the dogs! These are few important reasons why we desperately need RAR support, RAR amazing team, these fantastic people and RAR's fantastic donors who follow our activity and see what we are trying to accomplish here! We do not want to see unwanted litters abandoned on the streets in bags or cardboard boxes alongside main roads, there is so much suffering we can endure but...no more! these dogs do not choose to be born on the pavement of a road only to die of starvation or horrible diseases, beaten or chased away by people! We were so impressed to see RAR work in June at our first spay / neuter campaign, that experience was mindblowing! We hope that kind and generous people will understand our situation and they will be able to help RAR and also to help us care for our strays, to help us prevent their suffering!"
While RAR usually tries to post the positive results of our work, the reality is thus.....without our work the animals and those that love them are in misery.....without your donations, we cannot provide the help. I'm sorry to be so bold, but this is the reality.
Thank you for reading and I hope you can help. We are asking for $500 to get this momentum going....hopefully we will reach this goal. We are just spread so thin at the moment. We have raised enough funds for 20 spays now, and our goal is 100 so we can return to Vatra Dornei in September, an additional need for $1760. We would also like to make this an ongoing campaign for RAR.
Sincerely, and with hope for help, Nancy and the RAR team
