EMERGENCY runs the only high-standard, free-of-charge surgical center in Kabul for victims of war. Among the many services provided at this hospital are the life-saving surgeries that save the limbs of children injured by war.
An arm or leg can be saved through a surgery that involves inserting a special pin ($85) that is held in place by screws ($15) that stabilize the limb so it doesn't have to be amputated. An arm or leg can be saved for $100.
For the cost of ONE day of war in Afghanistan, EMERGENCY can build TEN high-standard, free-of-charge hospitals and cover all expenses for THREE years.
EMERGENCY USA - Life Support for Civilian Victims of War and Poverty is the US based operations of the international medical humanitarian organization EMERGENCY, which was founded in Italy in 1994 and has treated over 6 million people with high-standard, free-of-charge medical and surgical care in war zones and promotes a culture of peace, solidarity and respect for human rights worldwide.
