Dear Senator Feinstein -
We are requesting that you join us in sponsoring the ABLE Act of 2013 (S. 313/H.R.647) - a bill with broad bipartisan and bicameral support. At the time of writing this there were 223 House members and 37 Senators supporting the bill - including Senator Boxer.
The ABLE Act would amend Section 529 of the Internal Revenue Service Code of 1986 to create tax-free savings accounts for individuals with disabilities. The bill aims to ease financial strains faced by individuals with disabilities by making tax-free savings accounts available to cover qualified expenses such as education, medical and dental expenses, housing, and transportation. The bill would supplement, but not supplant, benefits provided through private insurances, the Medicaid program, the supplemental security income program, the beneficiary’s employment, and other sources.
More information can be provided by Senator Casey's office (April Mellody, Communications Director - firstname.lastname@example.org Phone: 202.224.6324).
We believe it is time that folks with disabilities should receive the same tax savings opportunities as their non-disabled peers. Please join us in supporting the ABLE Act (S. 313/H.R.647).
