The proceeds raised from this anti-bullying campaign will bring our speaker Kevin Roth to Grand Rapids; his hometown. Kevin will speak about his part (as a 9th grader) in a 1966 bullying incident which ultimately resulted in serious injury to himself, and the death of Mr. Forrest L. Willey, then an Administrator (Coordinator of Secondary Education) for School District 318. Kevin will be speaking the week of October 14th at GRHS, RJEMS, and Big Fork.
Any additional funds will go towards a Memorial for Mr. Willey, who gave his life saving students' lives on that fateful day. This sad event in Grand Rapids was one of the first school shootings. The shooter, David Black, had been relentlessly bullied by other students. He brought a gun to school and shot Kevin Roth, and ultimately, Mr. Willey who tried to talk him into giving up the gun. This tragedy affected three separate families forever.
If you would like to donate to these efforts, an account has been has been open at the Grand Rapids State Bank under "Be the SOLUTION".
