Japan Dolphins Day marks the beginning of the dolphin hunting season at The Cove in Taiji, Japan. Each year, Ric O'Barry goes to The Cove to raise awareness of the slaughters and to advocate for their permanent end. And each year, thousands of people from across the globe stand with him, in a united front against dolphin exploitation.
This year, you can register at JapanDolphinsDay.net to join an existing event in your city, or to create one of your own. This new website, a product of Save Japan Dolphins' partnership with the Save Misty the Dolphin social media campaign, hosts forums, downloadable materials, and the Organizer's Handbook to help you get started on creating your own event.
If you can't join us on Sept. 1, please tweet #JDD2013 and #Tweet4Dolphins to help spread the word.
You can purchase your very own Japan Dolphins Day 2013 t-shirt from Ecojoia.
Please donate to help support Ric O'Barry's global efforts to save dolphins.
See you on September 1!
