We are writing on behalf of the homeless animals of Jacksonville, FL. We are truly appalled that reducing the budget for Animal Control and Protective Services (ACPS) is a consideration. The citizens of Jacksonville, FL have worked hard to make this city a No Kill city. Cutting the budget of ACPS is a slap in the face to all of those who have stepped up when the odds were not in favor of the animals. Thousands of people have worked hard to keep animals alive and off the streets. By cutting the budget for ACPS, the nunber of animals ACPS can take in will be reduced and many animals will be set loose on the streets, causing a health and safety problem.
Mr. Mayor, you have walked through the kennels at ACPS. How can you look into the eyes of those animals and sentence them to death? Please allow us, your citizens, to continue to move in a positive direction on behalf of the homeless animals. Jacksonville, FL is a model for other cities and it would be beneficial to all involved to consider other budgetary alternatives. Please do not undo all of the work that has been done.

Having a safe place for animals to wait for a forever family is especially important to the animals who are waiting; but, also it is important to the health and welfare of the entire city.
