I write to express my concern about plans for new oil drilling in rainforests and indigenous lands in the southern Ecuadorian Amazon. For the sake of our planet and the indigenous communities of Ecuador I call upon you to reconsider plans to auction off one of the most biodiverse places on the planet.
Nearly eight million acres of pristine rainforest and indigenous land in the Southern Ecuadorian Amazon are on the chopping block. Instead of defending this sacred global treasure, the government of Ecuador is in the midst of auctioning it off to oil companies.
Take Action Now! Please urge the new Ecuadorian Minister of Non-Renewable Natural Resources Pedro Merizalde to respect indigenous rights and the rights of nature by not drilling in the Southern Ecuadorian Amazon.
