I pledge to ask your senator to support Senate Bill 121
Take action and ask your senator to support Senate Bill 121 and establish a United States Advisory Council on Human Trafficking.
This important legislation would establish a council comprised of human trafficking survivors and nongovernmental organization experts to advise and inform the Senior Policy Operating Group and the President's Task Force to Monitor and Combat Trafficking in Persons.
Human trafficking affects every country in the world, including the United States. The victims and survivors of this crime are living testaments to the gross abuses and rights violations perpetrated by the traffickers and predators who enslave and exploit others. There are as many as 100,000 victims are trafficked into and within the United States. Men and women, children and adults — exploitation is not bounded by age, gender, or any other factor.
Now is a critical time to provide services to survivors of this crime, prosecute traffickers, and establish strong policy and anti-trafficking measures. A council of experts by experience will elevate the survivor voice, empower those who were once oppressed, and reduce stigmas associated with falling victim to serious crime. Once established, this council will elevate United States anti-trafficking efforts by listening to the voices of those most closely affected, those made experts by experience.
