Exactly six months later, it's still impossible to comprehend the way our loved ones were so senselessly taken from us.
We're still grieving. We still struggle. We still ask, "Why us?" But even in the most painful moments, our spirit is not broken.
We have lost loved ones, but we are still parents, husbands, daughters, sisters and brothers to them – nothing can take that from us. It is for the loved ones we've lost that we have to make sure our tragedy is the beginning of a national transformation.
We've gone across the country sharing our story to stop gun violence and expand mental health care access to those who need it. Americans overwhelmingly support sensible reforms to bring an end to the tragedies and the hurt.
We are determined, but we need your help. The most important thing you can do to help turn our heartache into substantial, meaningful change – in your community, in ours, and all across the country – is to donate to Sandy Hook Promise today.
We must do something. After what we've gone through and seeing the pain in our neighbors' faces, in each others', we have to protect families and communities from losing their loved ones to gun violence.
We owe it to our loved ones to do everything we can to save lives and prevent more pain, more loss. We must keep this conversation going all across the country, with our families, friends, co-workers, church communities and neighbors – we cannot keep repeating what happened here in Newtown.
The culture of violence depends on people forgetting. We can't let that happen. We need to keep our voices strong. Now, on the six-month anniversary of our loss, we need your help to make this our moment and show that we won't let up. Your donation today will help make sure others don't forget.
Thank you for all your support. It has given us the strength to do this work.
