Irom Sharmila has been on a hunger strike for 12 years.  Irom, also know as the "Iron Lady of Manipur" has been a brave hero the past 12 years and deserves the highest recognition possible, the Nobel Peace Prize. Her campaign against the Armed Forces Special Powers Act has brought worldwide attention to the Indian Army's misuse of the extraordinary powers granted through this law.  Concerned human rights workers have accused troops of using the law to torture and kill suspects.  Sign the petition today to encourage past Nobel Peace Prize winner Shirin Ebadi to submit a nomination to the Nobel Committee for Irom Sharmila.
