PETA has offered a $10,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person who is responsible for dumping a severely neglected German shepherd off at an animal shelter in Oakland, Calif., reported Monday's KTVU News.
The person who abandoned the dog did so under cover of darkness; dragging a large crate, which held the grievously wounded dog, to the facility's doorstep while no one was around.Fortunately, a surveillance camera caught the cowardly act.The female dog, dubbed "Marlo," by shelter staff, was estimated at six to seven years of age; she was in such horrific condition when she was found, that veterinarians decided it was necessary to euthanize her.A necropsy on the dog's body revealed that her suffering had been happening for an extended period of time.
Officials hope surveillance video can help them find the man that abandoned an abused dog in Oakland.
