We know that in the Bay Area an earthquake is not an "if", but a "when" event. Surviving an earthquake and reducing its impact takes preparation. Take time to start preparing now.

1. Make a Communications Plan. Your family and loved ones may not be together when an earthquake strikes. Determine how you will contact each other in advance by developing a Communications Plan.

2. Create Emergency Supply Kits. You may be at home or away from home when disaster strikes, so put together Emergency Supply Kits for your home, car, and workplace.

3. Review Earthquake Safety Checklist. Review this Earthquake Safety Checklist of things to do BEFORE an earthquake strikes to protect yourself, your family, and your property.

Tell family and friends that you are prepared for a major earthquake and encourage them to take the Earthquake Preparedness Pledge!
