Hello, my name is Kara, and I'm a volunteer with Excellence for Detroit -- a small nonprofit in Detroit with a clear mission -- to prepare high-achieving students from this city to gain admission to college, finance their education, and actually graduate from a degree program.  To this end, educational programs focus on developing university-level academic skillsets -- such as critical thinking -- as well as providing ACT preparation and/or mentoring on independent student projects to enhance both students' skills and college marketability form the core aspects of Excellence for Detroit's (E4D) approach.

Before making a donation, you will undoubtedly wish to learn more about our work:

See generally:  http://www.excellencefordetroit.org/ -- especially the mission and program tabs.  Also check out our social media presence https://twitter.com/excellence4DET and https://www.facebook.com/excellencefordetroit

Based on personal income & interest, I recommend the following donation scale (just a guideline):

$1-$5

$25

$50

$100

$500

This organization is a 501(c)3, and all donations are tax deductible on that basis.

If you have any particular questions, please leave them in the comments or contact me via the org's social media pages.  I am drawing attention to this cause because my association with the organization has shown me its programs and plans for growth are well thought out, its leaders are committed to its long term growth, and its programs already impact students in the community.  It is seriously underfunded, as a new nonprofit with a tiny staff, so that's the ultimate impetus for my own involvement in fundraising.

In the interest of honesty, I promise not to raise my pledge goal more than once for this particular campaign.  Thank you for considering this opportunity to help increase college access and improve Detroit's future.
