Angelina Jolie found out that she had a faulty gene called BRCA1 that drastically increased her risk of breast and ovarian cancer. "Drastically" is the word: she discovered that she had an 87% chance of getting breast cancer and decided to have a double mastectomy.

Jolie published an op-ed in the New York Times today about her decision and her experience. It's the first step of her efforts to open up a dialogue about cancer risk and making sure that women know their options. Please read the article and take the pledge to share it with the mothers, daughters, sisters, friends, and partners in your life.
