am utterly disgusted and revolted. There's this shocking video doing
the rounds on Facebook. In short: it's about a group of (black) people
who beat 5 other people with sticks to the extent that they cannot walk.
Then, when these people cannot move anymore, they are set alight alive.
I saw this video (unfortunately) and immediately reported it to
Facebook, and requested that they have this video removed. I was shocked
beyond the core of my soul on receiving the following message from
them: Thanks for your report. We reviewed the video you
reported, but found it doesn't violate Facebook's Community Standard on
graphic violence, which includes depicting harm to someone or something,
threats to the public's safety, or theft and vandalism.
So, I'm warning you that I am posting a link to the video in question,
and IF you are up to watching something this barbaric and nauseating, do
so at your own risk. If you are sensitive, please DON'T watch it, but
answer my questions below: Does Facebook really show any form
of humanity? Is it really worthwhile reporting something this vile to
them? If this is their idea of "no harm to someone" what exactly is this
that I saw in the video? I simply can't get over the shock of it. My
hands are completely tied. If Facebook doesn't want to do anything about
something vile as this, how are we ever going to put a stop to this
kind of thing?
We should decide if we want facebook to use their influence into stopping acts as these or just to help spread it.
