Vitalio Gomez is a 22 year old college student at Sacred Heart University in Belize who had his studies interrupted with bouts of fever and night sweats. The doctors originally thought he had pneumonia, but after failing multiple treatments for this, he traveled to Mexico City and was found to have non-Hodgkin's lymphoma. He received treatment there but it failed and he was told he needed a bone marrow transplant by the Oncologists. He returned home to Belize after his family did not have the $50,000 US this procedure costs in Mexico. Bone marrow transplant is not available in Belize and the Healing Hands Abroad team has arranged for him to travel to NYC and receive this life saving procedure.
