Dear Grant High School Administration,
We appreciate that the entire Japanese Program is not being cut; however, we believe that the Japanese 1~4, or Kiso courses, are a very important part of the program as well. We want the Japanese Program at Grant to have beginning Japanese classes in order to be an open and accepting community, and to give students an opportunity to learn an incredibly unique language. Unlike the other languages at Grant, Japanese is not a romance language, and these classes teach not only a different language, but a different culture.

Grant High School is a public high school in Portland, OR. Like many other public schools, it has been facing terrible budget cuts year after year. For the 2013~2014 school year, they had proposed to cut the entire Japanese Program. Although part of it (the JMP) has been saved, we still face other cuts, such as Japanese 1~4. Japanese 1~4 is a big part of the Japanese Program at Grant and provides opportunities to many students who are interested in Japan and its culture. Cutting Japanese 1~4 would hurt the entire program as a whole. If you believe that it should be kept, not cut, please sign this petition!
