Jemison Court

His name was Christopher Rico, and was in the sixth grade in Jemson Middle School in Jemison, Alabama. He was choked and beaten in a restroom on school property on Friday, April 12, 2013, and was rushed to the hospital. On Saturday, April 13, 2013, he went into a coma, and Monday, April 17, 2013, he was taken off of life support. It has been said that he has been bullied a long time for being little, and nothing was done about it. Jemison Middle School is trying to cover it up, but I refuse to allow this little boy's death to go unnoticed! The school, and many people from the school, are claiming that it is a straight up lie, but his mother even said that it was recorded on someone's iPod! I refuse to back down until JUSTICE IS SERVED!

UPDATE: Rumor has it that the DA has the video of the harassment, but they are refusing to release it to the public. I DEMAND justice for this boy!

UPDATE #2: So, they claim he had an aneurysm... Aneurysms are very rare, unless HEAVY impact is done to the brain!! The impact of this so-called "rough housing" may have caused this!! The force of blood pushing against the walls of an artery combined with damage or injury to the artery’s walls can cause an aneurysm. Many conditions and factors can damage and weaken the walls of the aorta and cause aortic aneurysms. Examples include aging, smoking, high blood pressure, and atherosclerosis (ath-er-o-skler-O-sis). Atherosclerosis is the hardening and narrowing of the arteries due to the buildup of a waxy substance called plaque (plak). Rarely, infections—such as untreated syphilis (a sexually transmitted infection)—can cause aortic aneurysms. Aortic aneurysms also can occur as a result of diseases that inflame the blood vessels, such as vasculitis (vas-kyu-LI-tis). **Trauma, such as a car accident, also can damage the walls of the aorta and lead to TAAs.** The following symptoms may be experienced before a cerebral aneurysm ruptures: **Very severe headache that occurs suddenly** Nausea Vomiting Eyesight problems Seizures (fits) Loss of consciousness Confusion A drooping eyelid Stiff neck Light sensitivity m.myfoxal.com/ms/p/si/856/view.m?id=124279&storyId=21987682

UPDATE #3: From a member: My children went to school with chris. Yes there was a fight in the bathroom, yes chris was pushed by another boy, chris pushed him back, that went on a couple of times and chris turned to walk out if the bathroom and then the other boy grabbed him and put him in a head lock, then he got on top of chris while he was on the floor and put his hands around chris' neck and choked him. Then all the boys walked out of the bathroom. There was about 8-10 boys in the bathroom when this happened and about 4-6 boys recorded it with i pods and cell phones, a couple of boys actually put the video on YouTube. The video is gone now of course. But one of chris' friends saw him come out of the bathroom he said he felt bad and had a headache. He went home his family and called 911, and you know the rest. But yes the school knows exactly what happened because they talked to all boys on the bathroom and even watched the video's. The school took all the boys ipods and cellphones on monday as soon they found out he died!! Trust me when i say that here in chilton county we have the good ole boy system. Even if the boys get their phones and ipods back im sure the video will have been deleted. alot of parents are putting together a boycott at the board of education to try to get answers.

UPDATR #4: (FROM A MEMBER)  I live in Thorsby the nexted town over from Jemison. I have some connection to the Hispanic community because my children and husband are Hispanic. It has come to my attention that this poor family is receiving death threats on a daily bases. I would like to make people aware of this. My youngest child whom very much looks Hispanic as been bullied several times at Thorsby. I appreciate the fact you all are standing up for this sweet boy. I also was told from a family friend of the family that they were threatened with deportation if they were to push prosecution. If you all would please make the public aware of what is going on in our community.

Signed,

Karleigh Strickfaden
