Our third season of summer camps is rapidly approaching! This year, a generous donor has started a scholarship fund for families who can't afford to send their kid(s) to camp. Our goal for this summer is to expand these funds through this Causes page, providing an opportunity to pay the way for even more kids to enjoy Tahoe's nature.

Tahoe Explorers Summer Camp: Provides young campers the opportunity to learn about wildlife ecology, forest ecology, water ecology, and geology of the Tahoe basin while hiking, kayaking, and learning from various natural science experts.

Junior Entomologists Summer Camp: Young campers will look under logs, among plants, and in tree bark in search of hidden insects. They will also learn what these bugs eat and their important jobs in the ecosystem.

Tahoe Nature Team (TNT) Camp: Free camp for the Lake Tahoe Boys and Girls Club in South Lake Tahoe. This camp will introduce Boys and Girls Club members to local nature areas and their flora and fauna.

A goal of our camps is to awaken students' curiosity of the natural world and invite them to become engaged in their immediate natural surroundings. We want to promote responsible environmental citizenship by helping children develop the tools they will need to make informed decisions relevant to the Tahoe region's natural resource issues. And most importantly – kids get to spend 4-5 days outdoors having fun!

"I want to take advantage of the outdoor opportunities, especially ones where you can learn something," said Cheryl Orr, parent of one of last year's Junior Entomologists campers. Providing outdoor, nature-based fun while learning is our summer camp philosophy, and is an experience we hope to give Tahoe's youth for years to come.

Please help these deserving youth spend a week in the outdoors, experiencing and learning about Tahoe's natural wonders. Your gift will help provide a summer camp experience a child will never forget.
