We, the undersigned ask Prime Minister Of Canada Mr Stephen Harper to change the animal law for Canada and prohibit circuses that involve the use of animals from entering our country and perform for entertainment.
Constant long distance travel, moving from place to place, cramped living conditions, lack of care during and after transportation, not having these animals quarantined before entering the country lead us to a deep concern that these animals used in circus performances (elephants, tigers, horses, dogs) can be a public health hazard due to carrying and spreading contagious diseases and that these animals can be a great danger to direct attack, escape or temporary loss of handler control.
There is no positive education for our children in going and watching these shows where animals are being abused in order to perform tricks that are unnatural for them.Trainers use whips, tight collars, muzzels, electric pods, bulhooks to force these animals to perform. Some of these painful tools are used during the show, in front of our children's eyes.
We don't want our children to believe that abuse and mistreatment of animals is ok. This is The 21st Century and the need for circuses with animals has become obsolete !
Animals in circus are being abused to perform tricks that are unnatural for them
Tigers, Elephants used in circuses are on the Endangered Species List.
