Please vote to distribute part of
Councilmember Brad Lander's budget for "Kensington Triangle Park
Improvements"--project "V" on the participatory budgeting ballot. It will be a
vote for expanding and improving a public space (a green space) in
Kensington, something the neighborhood is extremely short of.
Triangle Park, situated at Church Avenue and 35th Street, holds the promise of a vibrant community space. Its present size only permits a narrow walkway from one corner of the triangle to another. By extending the sides and adding a park bench, planters, and a mosaic, the park can become an attractive and hospitable area for Kensington's diverse residents to share.
A video about the project is on YouTube.
The park is located on a piece of roadway formerly used by MTA bus drivers who parked there and idled their buses as they waited to begin their routes. Since the creation of Triangle Park, the air quality has gotten much better!
Residents from age sixteen on up are eligible to vote, regardless of citizenship or immigration status.
Bring identification with you that shows your name, current address, and age. A list of the forms of ID you can bring is here.
Each person can vote for up to five projects. The seven projects that get the most votes will win.
