Dear Friends and Family
I need your prayers and support for some challenges in my LIFE.
BROCK, our amazing
Autism Assistance Dog of almost 6 years, has become ill and has been forced to
retire. BROCK has been such a huge part of the success of both Lauren and
Matthew. They are still in need of an Autism Assistance Dog to help them with
the challenges that life brings to people who have multiple disabilities
LAUREN has been
diagnosed with Autism, Profound ADHD, Profound Anxiety Disorder, Agoraphobia,
Sensory Integration Disorder, Speech Apraxia, Motor Apraxia, as well as
others. She is in a regular classroom but struggles to function well in
this unpredictable environment. We are looking forward to her new Autism
Assistance Dog going to High School with her and being able to help keep her
calm, detect and provide assistance when her anxiety starts to climb, as well
as provide sensory input that she needs before she gets to a point in which a
meltdown will occur.
MATTHEW has been
diagnosed with Autism, ADHD, and Sensory Integration Disorder. He is currently
under evaluation for OCD. We are looking forward to our new Autism
Assistance Dog being able to help disrupt harmful behaviors, disrupt scripting
and OCD behaviors that lead to severe meltdowns. Matthew also has no
fear. He is very impulsive and will leave the house when I'm in the
shower or before I wake up in the morning. Unfortunately as hard as I try
to keep my eyes on Matthew, there are sometimes when he sneaks out and I just
didn't see. Therefore our new Autism Assistance Dog will be able to help
me find Matthew quickly when he does escape.
It costs $24,000 + to
train an Autism Assistance Dog of this caliber.
4 Paws for Ability asks each family to fundraise to help offset the cost of training. I am asking for your help in the fundraising of
the $5000 that we have left for Lauren and Matthew's new Autism Assistance Dog.
Ways you may help:
GO to our website:
Donate something of value that I could use for auctions or raffles
SEND a check in honor of
Lauren and Matthew Lindsey to:
4 PAWS FOR ABILITY
253 Dayton Ave.
Xenia, Ohio 45385
We need to raise the remaining
$5000 before our application can be completed for a new Autism Assistance Dog. No
amount is too small. Your gift will give us hope that we can better meet the
challenges of TODAY.
