The resounding international acclaim for the 2012 Filipino film, "Thy Womb" by Cannes best director Brillante Ma. Mendoza and featuring the great Nora Aunor, is a clear indication that its story of selflessness and unconditional love has a universal appeal that cuts across culture, race, and religion. Moreover, the numerous awards it has won from various international film festivals and regional academy awards is a strong affirmation of the Filipinos' great talent in filmmaking. We believe that "Thy Womb" can cross over to North America and into the Oscars! We believe that "Thy Womb" can be a strong contender for the 2014 Oscars Best Foreign Language Film award. We humbly yet ardently appeal to the Film Academy of the Philippines to choose "Thy Womb" as the Philippines' official entry to the next Oscars to be held on March 2, 2014.

Unlike the Academy Award for Best Picture, which officially goes to the winning film's producers, the Foreign Language Film Award is not given to a specific individual but is considered an award for the submitting country as a whole. As such, to win the Oscars Best Foreign Language Film is not only a trophy for the cast and production of Thy Womb but a victory indeed for the entire Filipino nation.
