How this will help

(Veáse otros idiomas abajo.)

For the first time in the history of the Americas, a former dictator is on trial for genocide and crimes against humanity in national courts. On March 19, 2013, the survivors' organization, the Association for Justice and Reconciliation, and their legal team, the Center for Human Rights Legal Action, will present their case accusing former General Ríos Montt and his former intelligence chief, General José Mauricio Rodríguez Sánchez, of these crimes. The AJR and CALDH have asked the international community to remain vigilant as this historic trial moves forward.

NISGUA, as a member of the international accompaniment coalition ACOGUATE, has provided international human rights observers to the AJR and CALDH since 2000. ACOGUATE will continue to provide accompaniment to witnesses and lawyers during the trial as well as in their home communities.

Stand with the AJR at this critical moment, sign the Pledge and take a photo to show your support!

How to create your photo for justice:

1.  Print out one of these signs, JUSTICIA por GENOCIDIO en Guatemala or JUSTICE for GENOCIDE in Guatemala, or make your own with the hashtags we'll be using throughout the trial: #GenocidioGT/#GenocideGT.

2.  Add your own detail. For example, handwrite a personal message or sign with your twitter handle, or use NISGUA's: @NISGUA_Guate!

3.  Upload your photo to NISGUA's Facebook page and tag us in your photo!
