Dear Governor Tom Corbett,
The social sector of this country has been hit very hard by the recent changes in our economy and has had to take care of more disadvantaged people with less funds. They have dealt with this skillfully by collaborating and by seeking grant funds but in many cases this has not been enough to take care of the tiresome case loads of so many people who are unable to provide for their own care.
We are petitioning you today for $750,000 in more funds to be distributed to the social sector because the social sector is the front lines where poverty is fought and the disabled and oppressed of society get their support. These are their food banks, their salvation armies, their homeless shelters, their soup kitchens, their helping hands that aid them through the rough times so that they can get back on their feet again. Please do not abandon the social sector.
I have been disabled since 2006 and despite government help in the form of disability, rental assistance through HUD, and food stamps, I rely heavily on the social sector for help with my disability services, transportation services, food banks, programs the Salvation Army provides, as well as relying on other non profit entities for group therapy support systems. My life would be severely limited without the social sector and I know I am not alone.
Thank you for your support,
Abigail C. Davids

Everyone has felt the crunch of the economy. We all have had to do more with less. No where is that more apparent than the social sector. The non profit organizations who are mission driven to help the poor and oppressed of society get back on their feet again. They provide services such as soup kitchens, food banks, transportation to medical appointments, meals on wheels, services to disabled persons, services to disadvantaged children, the environment, the list is endless. They have had to do more with less too, primarily because they rely on our donations. All I am asking is that you sign this petition and forward it to as many friends as you can. You will be helping a lot of people.
