As you know I've been leading and growing DC Social Innovation Project (DCSIP) for almost two years now. For my 29th birthday on March 30th I'm asking you to donate $29 (or whatever you'd like to give) to support our work. 100% of your donation goes directly to fund the grants we provide in the community -- and since all of our grants come with pro bono consulting, every $1 you give becomes $4 in value we are able to give in the community -- so your $29 allows us to provide $116 worth of grants and services (Groupon can't even give you that kind of deal)!

Since 2011, DCSIP has supported the launch of nine projects providing career training to youth, reinventing the way students learn, providing access to fresh produce in low-income neighborhoods, and more.

Through a competitive application process, we select four promising projects each year and support them by providing a grant of up to $3,000 and a team of consultants that help with strategic planning and financial sustainability. We also work with the project leaders as mentors to help them as they encounter roadblocks in implementing and expanding their projects. Additionaly, we secure even more pro bono services from volunteers and firms in DC to provide legal, marketing, and other critical services to our grantees.

View this video to see what one of our grantees in doing (we were the first organization to give them a grant to launch their program):

Thanks for helping make our work possible! For the folks in DC that contribute, I'll be sure to invite you to a fun/boozy birthday brunch at my place that you don't want to miss. I can't publicly say that a member of the Obama family will be there, but wouldn't you hate to miss that?!

Thanks for contributing,
