Hello Friends!

Some of you may have heard that in April I will be throwing on a bike helmet and hopping a plane to Darjeeling, India where I will be biking over 250 miles with a final destination of Kathmandu, Nepal.

For those of you who haven't heard you are probably wondering....WHAT, WHY?!

So here is the WHAT: A charity bike ride for Broadleaf Health Education and Alliance, a non-profit organization focused on providing underserved areas of the Eastern Himalaya with health and education services. Specifically, Broadleaf is currently working with seven primary schools in rural communities where they lack access to basic healthcare and adequate water and sanitation facilities.

And the WHY:Every dollar you donate will go directly to Broadleaf, which will provide primary school children with access to clean drinking water, toilets, health education programming, de-worming intervention, wellness promotion, developmental and mental health screening, and a dedicated community health worker to provide basic health services within their communities.

I have a personal goal to raise over $1,000 for the second annual Broadleaf ride across the Eastern Himalaya.

This is the first time I have traveled to a developing country, committed to a physical challenge, and all for a non-profit I truly believe in. At first, I wasn't sure if I would be ready for this adventure that will ask a lot of me, mentally and physically. With the support of my friends and family, I could not be more excited to dive into a world I have never been exposed to. I couldn't do this this without the support of my caring family and wonderful friends. I believe this will be a very revealing trip for me, and I am looking forward to the opportunity of devoting a small portion of my time to others.
