Sign the Petition to

Governor Nathan Deal and Georgia State Assembly

You must not pass Bill 512 allowing for people to carry concealed guns in public places. Allowing for people to carry guns will only incite violence and allow for everyday disputes and misunderstandings to escalate. We, as Georgians, will no longer feel safe in our workplaces, on our college campuses, or at church. This bill must be rejected to prevent the people in our communities from living their lives in constant fear of concealed guns that could be withdrawn at any moment.

Please listen to us, the undersigned, as we tell you that Bill 512 must be rejected.

Signed,

Beth Giddens

The Georgia House passed Bill 512 on Thursday, March 7, 2013, and it advanced to the state Senate. If passed and signed into law, the bill would allow Georgians to carry weapons legally into bars, churches, college campuses and unsecured government buildings. Even if not passed in 2013, the bill may be considered again in the Senate in the 2014 session.

Guns in workplaces, and especially on college campuses are likely to cause everyday disputes and misunderstandings to escalate. We need to keep Georgia colleges and universities as safe as possible by maintaining an atmosphere that supports open discussion and minimizes the possibility of violence.

Please sign the petition against HB 512 or another bill with similar goals. The petition will be delivered to Georgia legislators and Governor Nathan Deal to show them that Georgians are against allowing guns on campus.

Please sign before the current session ends on March 21, 2013.
