United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon

Mr. Secretary,

We want to draw you attention to the ongoing violence against religious minorities and non-orthodox Muslims in Bangladesh. The death toll has risen above seventy and the whole country is now in state of unrest and insecurity. These crimes are being carried out by fundamentalist Islamist groups the main of which is Jamaat-e-Islami. The trial and conviction of 1971 independence war criminals has ensued this violence. People advocating the proper trial for these known and proven criminals have been targeted and now it is take shape of a large scale terrorist movement. We, the Bangladeshis and our international friends request you to initiate international discussion and take action to stop this crime against humanity. Being in a supreme position of authority you hold the power and the responsibility to keep peace in the world and the situation in Bangladesh demands your immediate attention. Members of Bangladesh army has shown extraordinary performance in UP peace keeping forces. Now it is time for UN to take strong steps to bring back peace in Bangladesh.

Respectfully

People of Bangladesh

Signed,

Nehraz Shumi
