It may well be argued that, back in the day, when South African President F W de Klerk granted his political enemy, Nelson Mandela, his freedom from prison, apartheid was on its way down. Nonetheless, it took courage for Mr de Klerk to do what he did, which proved that South Africa could rightfully still be considered a civilized nation.
Now the question arises, on an albeit different stage altogether, as Communist China continues its influence over the Taiwanese KMT Party, (and particularly, Taiwan President Ma Ying Jeou), if Mr Ma wishes his country as well still to be considered as civilized, or if he truly is brainwashed to think as the Chinese Communists do that, despite its in fact, being controlled several times by MANY different nations (most notably Japan in the WW2 years), Taiwan is no more and no less than a renegade Communist province. Not to mention, while I do not rightly recall Mr Mandela suffering any illnesses while in prison, former President Chen's health IS rapidly deteriorating, and without the same urgent medical attention as any everyday citizen of a civilized democracy would or should receive...I am asking all those who value human life, human dignity, rights, justice as well as democracy to sign this petition so the Taiwanese PEOPLE may not have their country's standing among the world's civilized societies either taken away or unfairly questioned.

For the Taiwanese people, for the sanctity of human life, and human dignity, as well as in memory, if not of the FORMERLY democratic way of life in pre-1997 Hong Kong, then at least in memory of those 1000s of innocent people peaceably demonstrating in Tienanmen Square, Beijing, June 4, 1989, before the Chinese Communists sent the so-called People's Liberation Army to annihilate them, and start hunting down whatever suspected survivors there may be, even to this day.
