World Spay Day is an annual event used to promote the benefits of spay and neuter by organizations all over the globe. Spay and neuter is the only proven method to prevent unwanted dog and cat breeding, which is responsible for the death of millions of homeless animals in U.S. shelters every year.
FiXiT would like to make this a day to rally our supporters to raise funds to use to prevent kitten homelessness in the upcoming kitten season. As the old saying goes, an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure -- now is the time to take action!
These funds will be used to fix female cats in homes where there is the greatest risk of breeding. For example, Sunna and her brother, Mani, are two kittens that were found abandoned in a ditch. The big-hearted family that opened up their home to these two are struggling financially; there is a new baby and dad is looking for work. Even so, they want to spay Sunna and prevent her from having kittens this summer that will end up homeless -- they just need a little help.
Please give on this World Spay Day so that we can make a difference for female cats profiled on GetYourFix.org, like Sunna or Lunar. Your help, big or small, makes a difference for kittens.
