I think we should take LEGAL ACTION against The Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA) as well as any and all Regulatory Commissions that have been and CONTINUE to be KNOWINGLYNEGLIGENT of their DUTIES. You will find the state of most captive animals to be a sad state of affairs. Most captive Cetaceans exist (and i use the word exist not live) in confined ILLEGAL tanks most in disrepair. The animals teeth are worn down (and drilled) due to stress grinding on the cement and bars. showing signs of distress. They are also force feed antacids, indigestion, Prozac and medications, further implicating knowledge of distress in these captive animals. They are often Socially neglected, and forced into captive breeding/slave trade programs. And that's only the beginning.
I would like to offer a BILL/SOLUTION. You say EDUCATION is your goal...mine too!! I would like to see all Captive animals VETERINARIAN Certified as being in need of human intervention. We can use this to TEACH others about the environment and OUR impact on the animals in it (i.e fishing line, nets, plastics, pollution) their are a great many animals that need our help..as well as a great many ppl that need to be educated on such matters. Captives like Lolita (Orca Florida) should be in either a Legal tank in a Healthy environment..or released to a sea pen for rehabilitation. I think if we all work together we can make something wonderful. Thank you for your time and consideration.
BECAUSE ZOOS AND AQUARIUMS ARE SUPPOSED TO BE FOR EDUCATION AND REHABILITATION... NOT A REMINDER OF WHAT SADDNESS AND BOREDOM LOOKS LIKE
