Sign the Petition to

Children Family Services of Florida

Speak out against the policies of  DCF the Department of Children and Families,This petition  is to get the very people devoted and paid to protect the innocent and helpless, to do just that!

It takes sometimes over 7 calls or more against someone to get DCF to investigate and remove a child. we need serious changes in how the state’s Department of Children and Families investigates abuse reports.

When a child is brought to the hospital because her dad has abused her, and it is the 4th time DCF has been called, yet within  24 hours that very child is returned to the care of her abuser, in this case her dad... something is very wrong!

take a stand and speak out against the policies of DCF, and against ABUSE.

If you dont believe me, read the law, it allows for the ROD in florida! See below.

But before you read that realize that each judge or DCF officer makes the determination themselves.....as to what is abuse.

Here is the Law in Florida concerning discipline for a child. As long as it is not excessive and abusive.

Corporal punishment is the deliberate infliction of pain as retribution for an offence, or for the purpose of disciplining or reforming a wrongdoer, or to deter attitudes or behaviour deemed unacceptable. ...It is legal for discipling a child.
Since any offensive touching is a battery under Florida law, what happens when parents spank their child? Technically speaking, they can assert Florida's "parental authority" laws.
Consistent with Florida's child abuse statutory scheme, and pursuant to the Florida Supreme Court's decision in Raford, a defendant charged with child abuse under 827.03(1) may raise as an affirmative defense the parental privilege of corporal punishment by establishing that:

1. defendant is the parent of the child or one who stands in loco parentis;

2. defendant's actions constitute corporal punishment; (deliberate infliction of pain as retribution for an offense, or for the purpose of disciplining or reforming a wrongdoer, or to deter attitudes or behaviour deemed unacceptable)

3. the corporal punishment utilized was ?reasonable? or ?nonexcessive.? (Not abusive)

Under the "logo parentis" doctrine recognized under Florida Law, conveys this right for any person standing in for parent.

My personal experience: I knew a teenager (a girl) who threatened to call the police at the notice that she would get a spanking. She was fifteen years old. So she called the Police. When the Officers got there and the situation was explained, the Officers agreed that she deserved discipline and two police Officers in Jacksonville, Florida supervised the spanking. It was not excessive force used, abusive under the laws standards. The Officers said to call them back if there is any more issues with her because he also had teenagers and he understood. I remember when I was in school, the Principle was allowed to Paddle a Student with the parents consent and then you would get a spanking when you got home for having to get paddled in school. There was far less trouble from children back then.

IF you are religious, there are references in the Bible concerning this matter:

The saying "Spare the Rod and Spoil the Child" is not just a old Cliche, it is derived from The Bible in Proverbs..

Foolishness is bound in the heart of a child; but the rod of correction shall drive it far from him. (Proverbs 22:15)

Withhold not correction from the child: for if thou beatest him with the rod, he shall not die. (Proverbs 23:13) (This one definitely is not abuse because abuse kills)

15 The rod and reproof (To voice or convey disapproval of; rebuke) give wisdom: but a child left to himself bringeth his mother to shame. 17 Correct thy son, and he shall give thee rest; yea, he shall give delight unto thy soul. (Proverbs 29:15, 17)
(This one teaches wisdom, not abuse)

Foolishness is bound in the heart of a child; but the rod of correction shall drive it far from him. (Proverbs 22:15)
(Just like this one, had to post it again smile)

Chasten ( correct by punishment or discipline; subdue) thy son while there is hope, and let not thy soul spare for his crying. (Proverbs 19:18)
( Children will cry cry because if hurts...When children cry while being whipped, let your soul not feel remorse)

In Florida, you may be arrested for hitting a child, but there is criteria and laws to protect the parent who is not abusing their children, merely chastening and discipling them.

Sign to show that you are not in support of Child Abuse and that laws should be tougher. If A child is beaten by a violent drunken parent or other, because of the alcohol or substance being used by the parent  he or she should be held accountable and the child believed! DCF does not take seriously any injury where the child does not have a fracture or worse! Furthermore they are often accused of inflicting their own injuries!
