A group of north Kivu women, from the Congo Women Artisans of Peace organization have demanded to take part in the ongoing peace talks between Congo, Rwanda, and Uganda. These women have been victims of brutal rape done by soldiers. They have a right to be at the center of the ongoing talks under the UN regulation 1325 of 2000, which states that the all countries allow an increase of a female gender perspective of women of all levels, regarding the needs of women and girls during peacekeeping settlements. Currently, there only 2 women engaged in the talks, but they are from Kinshasa, an area that has not been affected by the war. The voice of a woman who has experienced firsthand the murder of her village and who has been a victim of rape needs to be heard and considered in order for peacekeeping operations to be affective. By signing this petition you will support the North Kivu women from Congo Women Artisans of Peace, and put pressure upon those running the peace talks(the ICGLR, and UN) to allow their participation in the peace deal.

The war in The Congo affects people in First World countries because what fuels the war are the minerals that are the heart of our electronics. The mining and distribution of these minerals is run by armies that cannot properly regulate this industry. Communities are murdered by them, women and girls are raped, and some children choose to be child soldiers to survive, all because the First World needs these minerals, and fast. Have a heart for those who suffer for the sake of your smartphone, laptop, and tablet.
