Sign the Petition to

Clinton’s Mayor Mark Vulich

Dear Mayor Vulich,

Turning your back on the abandoned animals of your community is the most irresponsible act I have ever seen from a local public official.  Members of your community are the ones who created the problem, and you can bet that neighboring shelters will be paying for a lot of them now, the rest will suffer a horrible fate: killed by cars, freezing, being beaten, starving, and worse.

I do not care what your situation, this is not the answer, and the world is watching.

According to their website, "The Clinton Humane Society cares for over 2,000 lost, homeless, neglected, and abused animals every year. The shelter also assists with injured and abandoned wildlife throughout the year."  So at least that many animals will be left to suffer and die alone.  This is not acceptable.  Step up and make more responsible decisions when it comes to city business, and ALL of the lives that dwell within your city.

Signed,

Elizabeth Hough

How this will help

"After a decision made earlier this week, a Clinton, Iowa animal shelter is no longer accepting stray animals from their own city. Not only are they not taking animals in, but they've been cut off from the funding they receive from the city...."

Read the whole story here: http://wqad.com/2013/02/07/clinton-humane-society-no-longer-accepting-citys-stray-animals/

This is the most ridiculous idea I have ever heard, not to mention heartless and cruel.  What do you suppose will happen to the unwanted and abandoned animals in Clinton now?   Not to mention there will undoubtedly be serious spillover on other shelters in the surrounding area, so basically those tax payers pick up the tab for Clinton's irresponsible "solution."

If city officials just did their jobs and brought more employers to the community, people would be able to keep their homes and their pets, not to mention more funds for the city to pay their fair share of taking care of these poor animals.  After all, is it not the people who live there that are creating this problem in the first place???  Please sign the petition and tell the Mayor of Clinton to step up and make more responsible decisions when it comes to city business, and ALL of the lives that dwell within that city.
