imba means sing explores three main topics: the importance of education, the power of music, and the cross-cultural ideas of success and dignity.
More than anything we want to show how important education is for every child and their communities to succeed.
The African Children's Choir proves that a decent education fundamentally changes lives. We are in the midst of an education crisis in our own country and need to realize the significant impact a proper education can have on the future of our global economy.
Eight-year-old Angel hopes to become the first female president of Uganda. Moses, nine-years-old, dreams of flying a plane around the world. But their families are too poor to send them to school.
For every year of education a child has, his or her salary, as an adult will increase by 10%. But what about the millions of children just like Moses and Angel, who don't have access to an education? The African Children's Choir has developed a creative vehicle for educating children like Moses and Angel while also bringing hope to everyone that they meet and dignity to the children themselves.
Weaving together footage shot by the film crew and the kids, "imba means sing" leads us on a journey from the slums of Kampala, Uganda through the cities and countryside of North America, and back.
